At Oxean Cross, we adopted remote employment over 10 years ago. Today, we want to share our tips for creating a productive home office experience for your teams.
7 very effective tips for remote or mixed work:
- 1
Before sitting down to work, do a few minutes of physical activity or relaxation or breathing exercises. This will help you concentrate and start your day with high energy.
- 2
Get dressed to “go to” work: pajamas or jogging suits might be comfortable, but are best suited for other types of activities. Some people apply perfume and make-up. Choose clothes that help put you in "work mode."
- 3
Designate a space for work and, if possible, don’t use it for any other activities. Ideally, it should be a comfortable space, with easy access to everything you’ll need to do your job, and where you can sit while being mindful of your posture.
- 4
Set goals for each workday: you can create a calendar to keep track of your progress. You can hang a calendar somewhere visible or use digital tools like Evernote, Asana or Trello.
- 5
When it comes to team interactions, it’s essential that you choose the right platforms and equipment. There are several applications and programs available, depending on the task to be completed.
Our team uses Slack, for example, to communicate across teams by generating channels by topic and projects, keeping conversations organized and reducing the number of emails in your inbox. - 6
Try to minimize distractions. Avoid opening entertainment or gaming apps during your working hours.
- 7
Taking breaks, eating well, and getting enough sleep are all essential habits for a productive work day and continued well-being in general.
These are just a few simple tips that can make a big difference.
Remote or mixed work makes us think about our work space and time in a different way.
